Rebekah
Abraham sent his servant on a mission to find a suitable wife for his son Isaac:
"And now Abraham was old, being well stricken in age. And the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put forth, I pray you, your hand under my head, and I will make you swear before the Lord, the God of Heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell. But you shall go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac." (Genesis 8:11)
If you ask what the big deal was in finding a suitable wife for Isaac, most people will tell you it was so that Isaac would not intermarry with a non-covenant woman. That's what the verse above says, and that's a good reason.
Another exciting reason this is important is that, according to the Holy Order, Issac is 'next in line' to be the one to hold dominion from God over the whole earth. He is to be the next Adam, Noah, or Abraham - or in other words, a Patriarch father. Therefore, the servant's mission also consisted of finding the next Matriarch.
With that in mind, Genesis 8:11-18 takes on a new light. It's a sobering mission for the servant, and it's a precious story. We can better understand his excitement in finding Rebekah and his reason for worshipping the Lord.
"And it came to pass that when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth. And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave to Rebekah. He gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things. And they did eat, and drink, he and the men that were with him, and stayed all night. . . . And they blessed Rebekah and said unto her, O you our sister, be you blessed of thousands of millions, and let your seed possess the gate of those who hate them." (Genesis 8:17).
